Sedation Dentistry Ottawa, Ontario

At St. Laurent Dental Centre we strive to give our patients the most comfortable dental experience. However, we understand that visiting the dentist may not be at the top of most people's to-do list. Some patients may avoid seeing the dentist since they feel nervous or uncomfortable having their teeth checked. To make your dental visit as comfortable and stress-free as possible, we offer a variety of dental sedation methods:

Oral Conscious Sedation:

Oral Conscious Sedation, also known as sedation dentistry, is ideal for patients who are highly anxious or have an extreme dental phobia. The patient is put into a semi-conscious state where they will be able to respond to verbal cues; however, may not remember all aspects of the procedure. Oral Conscious Sedation requires the patient to take an oral sedative prior to their appointment. By the time that they arrive at the office, they will be in a deeply relaxed state.

IV Conscious Sedation:

IV Conscious Sedation can be used for both general anesthesia and conscious sedation. IV Conscious Sedation puts the patient in a groggy relaxed state and reduces all forms of pain or discomfort. While patients are often able to respond to verbal cues, they may not remember all aspects of the procedure. Because the sedative effects take some time to subside, you will need someone to drive you home following your procedure.

Our dentists will help you to choose the appropriate sedation dentistry for your needs. Contact our practice in Ottawa to learn more about our sedation options.
