Dental Technology
At St. Laurent Dental Centre, we use technology, including digital x-rays and the iTero 3D scanner, to provide families throughout East Ottawa, Gloucester, and Manor Park with efficient dental care.
Our Dental Technologies
At St. Laurent Dental Centre, the technology we use helps to inform treatment planning and make your dental appointments more efficient. Because we can display digital x-rays and scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms, we are able to show you any issues that may be of concern in your mouth, and walk you through your recommended treatment plan.
Our goal is to provide each of our patients with efficient dental care, and make sure they are fully informed about their oral health. Dental technology helps us to achieve those goals.
Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays use digital sensors rather than traditional photographic x-ray film. This technology produces highly detailed computer images of the teeth and gums, as well as other oral structures and conditions. Digital x-rays allow your dentist to examine areas of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye. Digital x-rays can easily be shared with other dentists or specialists when required.
Panoramic X-Rays
Panoramic x-rays gives your dentist the ability to create a single image of your entire mouth. This image is a flat representation that not only includes the teeth and jaws, but also the temporomandibular joints (TMJ), nasal structures, and sinus structures. Panoramic x-rays are helpful in treatment planning for dentures, braces, extractions and implants.
Cephalometric X-rays
Cephalometric X-rays are useful in many situations because they show a side view of your head, exposing the teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures. These X-rays can be used to assess and plan treatment for several oral health concerns, including impacted teeth, broken teeth, problems with your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and airway problems.
Cephalometric X-rays are taken from outside the mouth and typically don't require you to bite down on anything.
iTero® 3D Scanner
The iTero intraoral scanner takes highly accurate, 3D impressions of your mouth and bite. This technology allows your dentist to plan your treatment in real time, store data digitally, and create Invisalign clear aligners.
